OpenPLC on ModBee
Ladder, function block diagram and structured text on the Node UIO
ModBee's OpenPLC libraries add the Node UIO as a target in the OpenPLC Editor, with function blocks for its I/O and for every ModBee protocol. Write the program in ladder, function block diagram or structured text, build it in the editor and load it onto the board.
How the Node UIO is programmed
Install the ModBee Node UIO board package in the OpenPLC Editor, pick ModBee Node UIO as the project target, and add the libraries the site needs. The editor builds the program for the ESP32-S3 and loads it over USB.
The I/O is read and written by function blocks rather than pin mapping. A UIO block runs first in every scan and brings the board up; then DIGITAL_IN, your logic, DIGITAL_OUT, ANALOG_IN and ANALOG_OUT. Retained values are kept in the board's flash.
Libraries in the package
Communication blocks for BeeBus, Modbus, MQTT with Sparkplug B, the broker and bridge, cellular and over-the-air updates. Hardware blocks for the Node UIO and its live I/O web page.
Application blocks for motors, pumps, valves, dosing, alarms and sequences, and field device blocks, starting with a 7-in-1 RS485 soil sensor.
On the OpenPLC Runtime too
The protocol libraries also run on the OpenPLC Runtime on Linux, so the same BeeBus, Modbus, MQTT and cellular blocks work on a PC or a Linux controller as well as on the Node UIO.
Features
- Board package for the Node UIO
- Blocks prefixed BEEBUS_, MODBUS_, MQTT_, GSM_ and OTA_
- UT_ blocks for motors, pumps, valves, dosing, alarms and sequences
- DEV_ blocks for field devices
- Docs for every library and block in the repo
Ready-built packages will be published as GitHub releases.
