Software
ModBee MQTT and Sparkplug B
MQTT 5.0 client, broker and bridge, with Sparkplug B
ModBee MQTT is MQTT 5.0 and 3.1.1 in C++14: a client, a broker and a bridge, for microcontrollers and Linux servers. It includes a Sparkplug B edge node and host application, conformant to Sparkplug 3.0 and tested with the Eclipse test kit.
On the board
A device publishes its values on change, handles commands per topic and reports its own status. The broker can run on a board too, so a site keeps working on its own network with no server.
On the server
The Linux build runs one broker per CPU core, with per-device logins and provisioning, retained messages that survive a restart, a Kafka pipe and a command-line tool.
Features
- QoS 0, 1 and 2, sessions, retained messages, wills and reconnect with backoff
- MQTT 5 topic aliases, flow control, properties and request/response
- Broker on a board or a host, with shared subscriptions and TLS
- Bridge between two brokers, with loop prevention
- Sparkplug B edge node and host application
- Typed values with a quality that goes stale on schedule
- Nothing blocks, including connect()
Runs on
ESP32 and STM32 boards, over any Arduino Client: Wi-Fi, Ethernet or cellular, with TLS. Linux on x86-64 and ARM64 for the server.
